This Privacy Policy explains how Westhub Academy ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our Platform.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: name, email address, phone number, and password.
Student verification information: passport photograph and National Identification Number (NIN), collected for identity verification tied to enrollment and certificate issuance.
Instructor profile information: bio, areas of specialty, and bank account details (for instructors requesting a payout).
Course activity: enrollments, lesson progress, quiz/assignment/coding-exercise submissions, grades, and certificates earned.
Payment information: transaction references, amounts, and status. Card and bank details you enter at checkout are collected directly by our payment processor, Paystack — we never see or store your full card number.
Reviews and ratings: course reviews and instructor ratings you submit.
Technical information: IP address, browser type, and device information, collected automatically for security and analytics purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

To create and manage your account and provide access to courses, cohorts, and one-on-one sessions;
To process payments and issue certificates;
To verify your identity where required (NIN, passport photograph);
To send transactional emails and notifications — for example enrollment confirmations, grading feedback, cohort approval, and waitlist availability;
To moderate submitted reviews and ratings before publication;
To maintain the security and integrity of the Platform, including detecting fraudulent payments;
To improve our courses and the Platform based on aggregated, anonymized usage data.

3. Payment Processing

All payments are processed by Paystack, a licensed payment service provider. Paystack's own privacy policy governs the handling of the card or bank details you provide directly to them at checkout. We receive only a payment reference, the amount, and a success/failure status — never your full card number.

4. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and to remember your light/dark theme preference. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

5. How We Share Your Information

With Paystack, solely to process your payments;
With the instructor(s) assigned to a course, cohort, or one-on-one session you're enrolled in, limited to what is necessary to teach and grade your work;
With administrators and supervisors, who can view student profiles, enrollments, and payment history for support and moderation purposes;
When required by law, regulation, or a valid legal request;
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account and course-activity data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal, tax, and record-keeping obligations (including certificate verification, which must remain checkable indefinitely).

7. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us at the address below. Note that some information (such as issued certificates and payment records) may need to be retained even after an account is deleted, for verification and legal record-keeping purposes.

8. Data Security

We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures — including encrypted password storage, access controls scoped by role, and signed/verified payment webhooks — to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

The Platform is intended for users aged 16 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 without parental consent.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date above.
